Rail Engineer End Point Assessor 

Home based role with travel. Salary Negotiable 

Are you an experienced Rail Engineer interested in moving into the Training sector, using your experience to assess Apprentices at the end of their studies?

INTRO

Our client is a Training Sector organisation who specialise in developing qualifications for the Construction and Civil Engineering sectors. They develop a range of industry qualifications including Apprenticeships, which are developed and assessed by sector specialists with real industry knowledge.

They currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee End Point Assessor to join their organisation, and are inviting applications from candidates who have relevant qualifications and strong experience in Rail Systems Engineering & Maintenance.

An ideal candidate would be someone who has worked their way up into a Rail Engineer role, from being a fitter or mechanic … but this is not essential.

This isn’t a Teaching / Tutor role – is it assessing the competence of Apprentices at the end of their Apprenticeships.

Apprentices will typically be working in the following roles: Track Engineer, Rail Civil Engineer, Asset Engineer, Rail Systems Integration Engineer, Rail Project Engineer, Approvals and Certification Engineer, Lead Signal Design Engineer, Signalling & Control Systems Engineer, Telecomms Engineer, Traction and Rolling Stock Engineer, Rail Electrification Engineer, Rail Mechanical Engineer and Rail Building Services Engineer.

THE ROLE

The main duties of the job will involve:

1) The development of a range of Rail engineering related end point assessments, that relate to your area of expertise. You will be involved in developing the following material:

  • Writing questions for Knowledge Tests
  • Developing Professional Discussion/Interviews
  • Designing Practical Specifications
  • Preparing and maintaining official company documentation for these assessments

A major part of the role is being able to independently research subjects and produce appropriate content for apprentices to be assessed on.

2)You will be trained by the organisation as an End Point Assessor, and will then travel across the country assessing Rail Engineering and Mainrenance Apprentices on-site – performing End Point Assessments – so flexibility to travel is required (mileage is paid)

  • There will also be an option of further training to expand the number of standards (Construnction  / Engineering subjects) that they you potentially assess.
  • Opportunity to gain a level of professional recognition in your area of expertise e.g. Eng. Tech, I. Eng, C.Eng
  • The nature of the job will also provide an opportunity to continuously maintain your Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Applicants will ideally hold a relevant Rail Engineering qualifications, have good IT and communication skills, and be interested in moving into the Education and Training side of the industry.
