Network and Systems Engineer

OVERVIEW

Our client is a Technical Organisaton with an International Customer bases. They have a vacancy for a Networks and Systems engineer to design, deploy and maintain their network and IT systems. It is a
wide-scoped and varied role and will appeal to a generalist who has a firm understanding of IP networks.
Although an SME, the organisation has an extensive network infrastructure both within their Derby site as well as
supporting VPN connections to thier customers (for operations and support), and work-from-home capabilities for their employees.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, development and troubleshooting of this network as well as the servers, systems and products that use it.

Key requirements of the role are:

• IP network design, deployment and maintenance experience
• Linux server experience

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Extensive, vendor-agnostic knowledge of typical corporate network infrastructure:
  – IP network design, management and implementation
  – Knowledge of IP routing and routing protocols
  – Firewalls, filtering, address lists
  – Thorough understanding of VPN protocols (specifically IPSec and SSTP)
  – Ability to gather requirements, design, implement and maintain new network deployments
• Knowledge of Linux server deployments from a network perspective
• Knowledge of virtual hosting principles
• Ability to engage at all levels of the business and with customer technical teams
• Enthusiasm to learn
