END POINT ASSESSOR (EPA) – WATER INDUSTRY NETWORK TECHNICIAN

PART TIME / FLEXIBLE ROLE

INTRO

V Selective are recruiting on behalf of an Ofqual recognised Apprenticeship End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO).
As an organisation they are committed to quality, and deliver a rigorous apprenticeship end point assessment service.
Their service helps to ensure that apprentices, working within a range of industries, are able to do the job they are trained for.

They currently requirte End Point Assessors (EPAs) for the Water Industry Network Technician standard, to join their bank of Independent End Point Assessors.

As an EPA you will carry out apprentice assessments, including practical observations and technical interviews. You’ll play a vital role in validating skills and knowledge.

To work as an EPA for the Water Industry Network Technician Standard you will 3 + years experience in the occupation.

STANDARD – WATER INDUSTRY NETWORK TECNICIAN

Water network technicians work in the water industry, mainly for large employers. They  work outdoors on water or wastewater networks and may go to customer premises.

The broad purpose of the occupations is to ensure continuity and efficiency of water or wastewater industry network services. They are responsible for meeting quality, industry regulations, safety, security, and environmental requirements. They ensure the health and safety of self and others. They need to consider how their work has the potential to impact customer service and the company’s finances and reputation.

There are three options for this standard

• Option1. Water distribution network technician – Water distribution network technicians carry out planned and unplanned valving operations. They undertake customer visits to resolve water quality enquiries, which may include taking water quality samples and giving advice on water quality. They undertake and provide advice to customers on water fittings. They must take account of Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations.

• Option 2. Water leakage technician – Water leakage technicians use systems to identify potential and actual leakage and undertake activities or identify action required to reduce leakage. They assist in the repair and maintenance of meters and loggers. They will provide advice to customers on pipework ownership and responsibilities pertaining to leakage. 

• Option 3. Wastewater network technician – Wastewater technicians respond to incidents and monitor wastewater networks resolving issues or identifying action required. They carry out or supervise system maintenance activities such as high-pressure water jetting and de-silting operations. They undertake surveys for example CCTV camera work or Sonde tracing equipment to assist with fault diagnosis.  

THE ROLE

The role is offered on an flexible basis via a zero hours contract.  The hours available vary dependent on demand, and registered EPAs always have a choice to accept assignments based on their availability. This role may be undertaken complementary to an existing substantive position with the permission of your current employer or within a wider portfolio of activities.

Upon taking assignments from the Service Delivery team, you will deliver end-point assessment for the Water Industry Network Technician apprenticeship standard and assessment method you are approved for.

You will undertake (remotely or directly) end point assessment activities (which may include practical observations and technical interviews), awarding a preliminary grade and ensuring that all assessment decisions are fair, objective, free of bias and based on all relevant evidence presented.

You will accurately record the outcomes of all end point assessment activity using assessment material submitting these records within required timescales.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Relevant occupational experience
• Competence to Level 3
• NRSWA qualification
• Experience in Jetting and CCTV
• It would be desirable to hold an assessor qualification
